If you’re a right of way professional and you have never attended IRWA’s Annual Education Conference, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The conference this year is at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, 300 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, CA. If going to California not just in your mind isn’t enough of a reason to go, if you need more reasons, or reasons to convince your boss to enable you to attend, they’ve already thought of that and conveniently listed them out here. We are just over thirty days away from the conference as I write this, so still plenty of time to get there. A copy of the agenda can be found at this link.

As a very small part of this enormous and entertaining conference, I will be presenting at 9:00 AM on Monday, June 24th, on “Why Can’t We Be Friends? How Right of Way Entities Can and Should File Amicus Briefs.”  If you’ll be at conference please do stop by and listen (even heckle if you wish) as I review this fascinating (to me anyway) way that third parties can participate in and influence appellate cases related to their interests when they are not otherwise parties to the litigation.
